EU RESPONSE
On 23 March, the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) was activated following a request for Assistance from the Government of Malawi conveyed by the Organisation of Africa, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS). The list of needs consists of shelter, protection, health, WASH, non food, and food items.
On 19 March the Commission announced ALERT emergency funding of EUR 2.5 million in humanitarian aid for Madagascar (EUR 500 000), Malawi (EUR 700 000), and Mozambique (EUR 1 300 000), that suffered from the landfall of TC FREDDY in February and March 2023
