Kid Rock, Bob Seger tour Detroit auto show

DETROIT - A handful of celebrities made their way to the North American International Auto Show this week as automakers from around the world unveiled new vehicles in and around the Cobo Center.

Former California governor and action film star Arnold Schwarzenegger made a surprise appearance as Mercedes revealed its new G-Class SUV on Sunday night, donning a cowboy hat as he downed celebratory shots of schnapps with Daimler Chairman Dieter Zetsche on stage after an eventful unveiling at the Michigan Building in Downtown Detroit.

Detroit rock icon Bob Seger was seen roaming the showroom floor Tuesday afternoon.

And after most of the press had cleared out of the showroom on the final day of media previews Tuesday evening, Kid Rock was spotted admiring Ford and GMC vehicles at Cobo.

"It's great, over the last 10 to 15 years, to come here, and to be privileged to come when the press is here, and kind of be able to go around and see (the vehicles) and see how it's elevated every year and really come up," the Michigan-born musician told WXYZ in a brief interview.

"I've played some events here and been a part of it. So it's cool just to see everything."

Rock admired the Ford Mustang that was used in the 1968 film "Bullitt," before moving onto a GMC truck outfitted with triangular snow tracks.

The Detroit auto show opens to the public on Saturday. Doors open at 9 a.m.
