The next-generation Volkswagen Jetta will make its official debut at the upcoming North American International Auto Show next year in January as confirmed by Volkswagen North America CEO Hinrich Woebcken. Ahead of its unveiling, the images of the 2018 Jetta has been leaked by autoblog.com.ar. The company has not yet confirmed the details about the car, but the upcoming 2018 Volkswagen Jetta will be based on the company’s modular MQB platform and not on the current model’s PQ35. The MQB platform also underpins other Volkswagen Group’s model like the Passat, Tiguan and the Golf. The platform expected help the car to shed some weight, stiffer and is expected to have a longer wheelbase than the outgoing model. With the increase in wheelbase, it will further create more space inside the cabin, especially at the rear.

The new Jetta is expected to take its design cues from the Arteon four-door coupe and will feature multi-slat hexagonal front grille design as well as LED wrap-around tail lamps. The rear of the car gets a dual-tone rear bumper with faux diffuser and dual exhaust tips finished in black.

It is said that Volkswagen India, as of now, has no plans to launch the next-generation Jetta in the country, but when launched it is expected to get a new 1.5 litre petrol and a 2.0 litre engine.
