Amazon could come under scrutiny from the advertising watchdog after customers complained about late deliveries using the Prime service.

The £79-a-year service offers unlimited one-day delivery - but customers have been hit with delays as they wait on parcels during the busy Christmas period.

Unhappy customers took to social media over the weekend to ask why their parcels haven't been delivered on time.

Advertising watchdogs are 'considering' complaints about late Amazon deliveries

A spokeswoman for the Advertising Standards Authority confirmed it had received "a handful of complaints" from people who had signed up to Prime.

She said the complaints were being "considered" but added that no official investigation had been opened at this stage.

An undercover investigation last month claimed Amazon drivers were being asked to deliver 200 parcels a day without being paid the minimum wage.
